Reconditioning
Reconditioning means preserving the original parts, making them workable instead of replacing. If your budget does not allow you making big investments and the piano condition is not tragic (piano technician can determine that) several hundreds dollars in repairs would be enough to make you enjoy your old upright or grand piano once again.
The following is commonly done:
- Inside and outside cleaning (including strings, soundboard)
- Hammers reshaping
- Complete action regulation
- Cleaning the action parts with Protek (to ensure quick performance and avoid sluggishness)
- Tightening of action screws
- Pedal adjustment
- Dampers replacement or repair (if necessary)
- Replacement of broken parts
- Reconditioning or partial replacement of bass and treble strings
- Bridge pin holes repair
- Tuning pins partial replacement (if necessary)
- Tuning (pitch raise to A:440)
- Voicing (making sound bright or mellow according to the player’s desire)
